Portmarnock Golf Club is a links golf club in Portmarnock, County Dublin, Ireland. The course opened on St. Stephen’s day 1894 with nine holes. It was extended to eighteen holes in 1896 with a new clubhouse and a further nine holes were added in 1971. Baxter's painting depicts the 15th hole, a short par 3 that runs along the shore of the Irish Sea.
About the Artist: Grame Baxter was born in Scotland and studied at the Glasgow School of Art. He is now regarded as a golf artist of international standing. His paintings are in deman for many of the major world championships.
